About Us

Our Story

Lebanon 2019… A huge economic crisis hit the country. A revolution erupted. The Lebanese currency collapsed. The snowball was rolling fast.

Covid-19 started spreading and the country was in lockdown for several months. 55% of the Lebanese population fell below the world’s bank poverty line.

August 4, 2020 – an apocalypse “Beirut Port Explosion” hit the capital destroying vast parts of the capital and Lebanon’s major artery to the outside world. 80% of Lebanon’s needs of foods and consumer goods products were imported through the Port of Beirut.

Motivated by all the injustice and poverty they were witnessing, a group of agro-food experts led by William Boutros coalesced and started aiding in 2019 finally launching WiAid in 2021.

WiAid initially aimed at promoting agriculture through the distribution of fruit and vegetable seedlings to families.

It later developed into a social support network for the less fortunate citizens with low or no income such as the elderly, widows, retired, sick, and unemployed.

The objective was to offer the less fortunate a dignified shopping experience. The background-checked beneficiaries of the WiAid card have the freedom to choose high-quality fresh produce produced by WiAid and made available in the store.

WiAid agricultural products (fruits, vegetables, oils) are planted to organic-like standards in various locations using modern technologies such as greenhouses, drip irrigation systems, and organic fertilizers. Dairy cows are raised in the WiAid farm and dairy products along with olive oil and vegetables are delivered freshly to WiAid beneficiaries in the WiAid store. Chicken, chicken products, and eggs are generously donated by Wilco PM a leading Lebanese poultry producer.

Each “WiAid card” has been credited with a specific amount ranging between 300,000LL and 500,000LL depending on the number of beneficiaries and the exchange rate allowing its bearer to shop for the items needed either by visiting the store or by ordering them for delivery to those unable to leave their houses for health or any other specific reason. All items available at WiAid Store are priced up to 30% cheaper than their market price.
